    Leave room to move

    Keep about 60 cm (2 ft) of clearance around the bed to walk and make the bed comfortably.

    Nightstands at mattress height

    The top of a nightstand should sit roughly level with the top of the mattress, give or take a few centimetres.

    Closed storage

    A dresser or vanity with drawers hides the clutter: a calm bedroom is easier to rest in.
